ND vs Louisville 2023 Highlights

And it was not even that close. Both the ND”s OL and DL were roughed up especially the OL. When Joe Alt got run right over I knew we were in trouble. The RT is not good and the Center and 2 guards were pushed back into Hartman’s face.

This was a total breakdown by all facets of this team except 1 – The PK who had 2 50+ yarders and 2 – a Walk on Lacrosse player had 2 catches and 1 TD – then he’s never seen again. He also looked faster than the other receivers.

RB Love is just missing going for big gains.

Well 2023 is over and I don’t know if we will ever have a QB like Hartman or a RB like Estime next season.

Next up is USC – God help us.

Another night game against another undefeated team. Louisville has a good coach and a good QB in Plummer, but that’s it.

Louisville isn’t Duke. Duke is a very good team and their DL really pushed ND’s OL around. Mike Elko is going places. He’s a good guy too – not like Kelly. He only lasted one year with Kelly. He went to Duke – his Alma Mater.

I think ND runs all over Louisville and the game is over by half-time.

ND vs U of L Highlights

Couldn’t believe I was watching the number 4 team in college football (now #3). Louisville has some good players and gave ND all they could barely handle and provided the defensive playbook for future opponents.

Namely stop the run or at least slow it down and force Ian Book to beat them passing and it worked. On every pass play all the receivers were covered i.e. the WR’s and when Book tried to give them jump balls they couldn’t pull it in.

But ND has a rising superstar in TE Michael Mayer and another excellent TE in Tommy Tremble, They have 2 more good TE’s so put them on the field and go for the 15-20 yd. pass until we can field WR’s that can get loose. For a good article on this check out ONE FOOT DOWN. WE have highlights below that runs about 10 seconds.

With Pitt coming up they bring a very good Defensive front 7 so a lot of things have to change this week or November is going to look bleak. Don’t even think about Clemson – they hung 73 points on GT this past Saturday.

Why the hell can’t ND come out and blow the doors off a much weaker opponent?

At the end of last season, plus QB school, Ian Book started out very badly and had a serious case of happy feet. He just does not have confidence in the OL and ND’s center got pushed around like a rag doll.

So Book bolted and while he had some good gains, he apparently has a lot of trouble throwing on the run. Personally I think his height is a detriment.

His passes did not have the zip and accuracy which he had last year. He did, however, play a lot better in the 2nd half and had a perfect 26 yard pass to Tommy Tremble, hitting him on the run for a TD.

Along with Book’s struggles there was an ominous feeling that ND’s defense was ripped for 250 yards rushing by Louisville – much of it right up the middle.

I did like the play of LB’s Drew White and Jack Lamb when they were in. Not so much for Asmar Bilal.

Good thing we have Safety Alohi Gilman who was all over and ended with 10 tackles. I don’t recall our DE’s doing anything.

They have 2 weeks to get their act together before Georgia.

ND vs Louisville Predictions

Notre Dame visits Louisville on 9/2 to open the 2019 Season.

Louisville has all new coaches and the HC Scott Satterfield is a rising star in the coaching ranks. He did a terrific job at Appalachian State, but he readily admits the players he inherited at Louisville are not nearly as good as the team he just left. Louisville had a total team collapse last year and finished 2-10 and some of the players just flat out quit.

They don’t belong on the same field with ND and the Irish will cruise to an easy victory with ND’s DE’s owning Louisville’s mediocre QB Pass.

ND blows them out quickly and the backups get a lot of work in this game.

Ian Book throws 4 TD passes and ND runs over 350 yards.
