At one point in this underwhelming game ND led 24-3 then allowed SC back in the game and mercifully it ended with the ND win. Great plays by Freshman receivers along with Kyren Williams with 2 TD’s and 180 total yards. ND’s OL actually played pretty well, but the play of the game was Bo
3:55 minutes and Jack Coan goes into Notre Dame lore. That’s the time left for Coan to lead two drives that resulted in a touchdown 2 pt. conversion and a FG by Doerer to complete the comeback for the win. I don’t think I ever remember anything like this. QB is replaced by a freshman
This game was over by halftime with Cincinnati up 17-0. Notre Dame fumbled, dropped passes and had a slew of penalties. Why is it that ND is held almost every play an it’s never called? We had a few warriors out there – Mayer (now injured), Foskey and Drew Pine to name a few. As
I’m not buying the hype for this game. Even with a bad OL, Cincinnati has nowhere near the talent that ND has. I doubt they have one player who would be starting for ND. Apparently Cincinnati has a decent QB in dual threat Desmond Ridder and a 6’7″ TE along with an Alabama transfer RB.
Even though I hate these early games – this game in Chicago starts at 11 AM Chicago time. I’m not too worried except if ND comes out sleep walking. I saw the opener Wisconsin vs. Penn State and I was not impressed with either team and definitely not impressed with the Badgers QB Graham Mertz.
