Notre Dame Vs Syracuse

Another night game, prime time TV and in the NYC area. What more could you do to pump up a team such as Syracuse. This game is everything and I mean everything to the team and it’s fan base.

And to top it off they have a high powered offense led by a big running QB Terel Hunt 6’3″ 240 lbs. Give him time and he is not a bad passer, blitz him, get in his face and he’ll unravel.

Syracuse has 2 good RB’s 1-speed and 2-power back. They just lost a starting WR but they have another pretty good one. The Syracuse OL is the most experienced ND has faced thus far and while not huge they are a tough gritty unit.

On Defense they have more of a fast front seven than big except for their 300lb NT Eric Crump. He’ll be going up against new starter Matt Hegarty and how that plays out could determine the outcome of the game. If ND cannot run the ball they are in trouble, just passing won’t do it. Syracuse blitzes constantly from all over so Golson won’t have a lot of time. ND, if they can’t run, must get the ball to their RB’s in space and just out run Syracuse.

I think ND is in for a very tough game. Any team that can put up 576 yds. against a fair Div. 1 opponent even when they gave the game away is formidable.

ND somehow just has to jump all over these guys early, get a big lead and force Syracuse to play from behind taking their running game out of the picture. Syracuse can eat the clock with their running attack and I just haven’t seen a ND offensive performance that gives me any comfort going into this matchup.

I think this is a trap game upset for Syracuse but being a homer I see ND winning by 3 on a late field goal.

Notre Dame 30 Syracuse 27
