Notre Dame vs Ohio State Predictions

In case you’ve forgotten what a scumbag Urban Meyer is consider the very first thing he did at OSU was poach 3 ND assistant coaches for parallel jobs (although I think Kelly was happy to get rid of them). He then flipped long time OT commit Taylor Decker.

It must have killed Meyer to suspend DT Adolphus Washington from the game – out of his hands probably. Now RB Elliott just got into a traffic car crash. It was his fault and he had no license. It was suspended and he failed to appear in court. He didn’t kill anybody – that would not have mattered. I’d love to know what car he was driving and who owned it.

Now onto the game. I think OSU is just as good as the final four teams and ND is not. When evaluating this game consider the following:

  • Notre Dame vs Virginia – 34-27 win
  • Temple – 24-20 win
  • Boston College – 19-16 win

Now consider Temple’s Bowl Game. Toledo beat Temple 32-17.

Ohio State basically has the same personnel that won the the NC last year and have been averaging 35 points per game. True they lost DT Washington and probably DT Schutt, but they also have a good bench.

Everyone is talking about DE Joey Bosa maybe moving inside. I don’t see that as a negative if he goes against RG Elmer who is quite clumsy or LG Nelson who has trouble with lateral movement.

OSU will make or surpass their scoring average and I foresee a blowout all based on what the ND defense has done this year.

Notre Dame can win this game if it has an outstanding game by the OL and DL. Sheldon Day will be a force and I for one would really like to see Jaylon Smith live up to that Butkus Award–he disappears a lot in many games.

Since all 3 former ND assistants know Kellys’ offense as well as his play calling tendencies intimately, I would turn the offense over to Mike Sanford. It’s time to cut this guy loose and he’s quite aggressive.

What I look for is OSU pounding Fuller at the LOS and blitzing Kizer non stop. OSU will go up tempo the whole game and own ND going into the 4th quarter. ND is just not ready to play with the big boys – not with that defense.

Ohio State 45 Notre Dame 30
