ND vs LSU Gameday 2014

Time fades and I was beginning to get somewhat optimistic about the LSU game until I saw Rutgers completely dismantle North Carolina 40-21. That brought me down to the grim reality of actually playing this game Tuesday. Rutgers does not have one player that ND would even consider and NC gave us all we could handle scoring 43 points.

LSU had a few blow off games and while finishing 8-4 they did beat Wisconsin 28-24, Fla. 30-27, Ole Miss 10-7, and A&M 23-17.

They lost to Miss. State 34-29, Alabama 20-13, Arkansas 17-0 & Auburn 41-7.

So outside of Auburn they played everybody close and all those teams would have killed ND.

The only thing we have in our favor outside of Les Miles is the ability to run a fast uptempo offense providing Kelly remembers how and lets Zaire run it.

LSU has massive OL weighing in around 330 so we’ve got to keep them off the field and score a lot of points. If we go 3 & out in first series we might as well go home.

I just can’t see our defense holding up with the big RB’s LSU has behind that OL especially in the 4th quarter. They do not have a very good QB so he’s the weakness if we can somehow get some rush stops.

I just can’t see ND wasting Jaylon Smith inside where he has to deal with 330lb OG’s – also Morgan has to figure out where the ball is.

I again hope that Zaire starts and they let Golson cool down, we can bring him in as relief if needed. Give Zaire a chance. Every other team has sophs starting and OSU can win with a 3rd team QB.

If Kelly plays conservative and goes for a FG win we’ll be blown out. LSU doesn’t put up big numbers so we have a chance but that was same story with USC.

Prediction: LSU 35 ND 24

  1. I too have “the fear” about this matchup. ND will have to play lights out but I wouldn’t count on it. I fully expect Golson to start.

  2. Don’t really think it matters if that OL doesn’t show up. Still can’t believe they didn’t replace Martin & Lombard. Still can’t believe the crown jewel of the 2014 class 5 star Quenton Nelson OG didn’t play this year–strongest player on the team.

Hell, I’d have 2 back sets Folston, Bryant and play Zaire and Golson at the same time–roll right, left–just do something innovative.
