Notre Dame Vs Georgia Tech Predictions

Adding fuel to the fire we now learn that GT HC Paul Johnson has an extreme dislike for Brian VanGorder that goes back years. It’s bad enough that Johnson has been waiting to bring a legitimate team into ND stadium and get revenge for his Navy losses.

Well, Johnson is bringing a prolific high scoring triple option offense and he has been beating up some big time teams. He normally runs the ball about 50x a game and rolls up over 400+ yards on the ground. A good example would be his Bowl game win against a good Mississippi State team that was 10-2 last year and losing by only 5 to Alabama.

In that game GT had 452 yds rushing. So we will see a fast paced option offense that normally batters and wears down an opponent and then blows them out in the 4th quarter.

After watching the ND vs UVA game the ND defense had a meltdown similar to the latter part of 2014. I have no idea what is going on in the ND defensive backfield. It looked like total confusion set in when misdirection and movement started. We had one sack and not a lot of pressure applied to the QB. It took a desperate Hail Mary to beat them.

In my opinion, the only way to beat an option offense is to attack them run blitz – use 5 LB’s if need be and don’t spend the whole game worrying about cut blocks.

GT will just adopt the Tenuta defense and blitz Kizer every play. You can beat this with a quick passing game, BUT the OL has to really up their game.

Unfortunately, I believe both the “O” an “D” will fold and Kizer will be running for his life. This gets ugly fast.
