After waxing Michigan, ND once again turns in a sloppy performance against Purdue. What’s worse are the injuries piling up. In a very stupid hit by Redfield, which caused his ejection from the game, Nicky Baratti comes in and immediately re-injures his surgically repaired shoulder. They better pull this Redfield kid aside and read him the riot act – 2 games in a row with unsportsmanlike like conduct.

Golson won this game – it certainly wasn’t our rushing attack. We also know how everyone else will play us – jam the box and try to force Golson to stay in the pocket. Golson was sacked 4 times. So with no rushing attack so far, ND better spend the next 2 weeks fixing the ‘O’ line play. The OL was supposed to be our big strength but neither OT looks capable of protecting Golson. Steve Elmer is having a hard time with this transition so maybe move him back to OG.

Instead of a blowout we had 3 TD’s and 3 FG’s and now, once again, a lot of worries about our inability to run the ball. We had 139 yds on the ground – a lot by Golson, but at least we threw a few passes to our backs. Looks to me that unless we can get our opponents to back off the line we might just as well throw until they do.

Cole Luke, Amir Carlisle and Baratti all injured in this game. OG Lombard, bad ankle, did not play nor did Frosh DE Trumbetti – no doubt due to the Michigan cheap shot.

These injuries, if they keep happening, are going to kill us down the road. The good news is that our ‘D’ pitched a 2nd half shut out and limited Purdue to only 56 yards rushing. Joe Schmidt and Devin Butler both had picks while Robinson and Fuller had TD pass receptions.

Total yards for ND 398 but just 3 TD’s against Purdue is just not good at all. By the way, Syracuse is no pushover.

Best news of the day BC beating USC. BC had over 400 yards rushing!!!!
