Blue Gold Game 2015

I’m not sure this glorified scrimmage really proved anything outside of the fact that the 2nd team OL is shockingly bad. Here I thought the stockpile of 4-5 stars players would at least make them somewhat close to the 1st teamers.

The announcers were talking about DL frosh Tillery and said starting senior Center Nick Martin just can’t block him in practice. That’s disturbing and brings into question Martin’s strength.

He had nagging injuries last year and got pushed around quite a bit – has he been riding on his name?

The QB’s were just about even in stats, but there is just something about Zaire that shouts out Leader and Winner. This kid is confident and he hit a 68 yd TD pass to Fuller and had another +40 yarder dropped by Bryant and boy can he run with the ball.

He sorta reminds me of Paul Hornung. Golson, on the other hand looks somewhat diffident, but he played all right and seemed to be better running the spread.

I just can’t get it out of my head his various meltdowns in 2012 as well as last year. I’d go with the bigger confident guy – it’s his turn.

My guess is that Kelly will start Golson.

Running Backs – Prosise is damn close to the starter and with his speed and power Kelly would be a fool not to give him the most carries. I’m not very impressed with Bryant.

WR’s – better enjoy Fuller this year because he’ll go Pro after this season.

Defense – the OL mauled the DL. Great to see Grace back in there, but he still needs lots of work to get up to full speed.

Redfield and Shumate finally have a clue.

I don’t like the cutesy plays such as the pass to OT Stanley. Why risk that? He was taken down by having his legs cut out from underneath him.

So now we wait for Texas…

Here are some video highlights and Kelly press conference from the Blue And Gold Game:
