Assisant Coaches Move On

QB Coach Matt LaFleuer moves on to the Atlanta Falcons. I never really understood what this guy did. Was he involved in trying to make Golson a pocket passer?

DB Coach Kerry Cooks – This is a lateral move to Oklahoma. Won’t miss him.

RB Coach Tony Alford – There is a lot of wailing from ND fans about this coach. He is a good recruiter, but I’m not that impressed with the job he did with RB’s in his 6 years. This is another lateral move.

I think Kelly wanted all these guys gone. It looks like Todd Lyght is coming on board as DB coach. This is a step up.

Rumors have it that Jeff Quinn will be joining the staff – good. That probably prompted Alford to leave. Quinn basically made Kelly a success as his OC for years. He is probably coming in as Asst. HC.

Mike Denbrock has health issues so I look to see him with a reduced role – probably just TE coach.

Whenever you see a lateral move it is usually a case where the HC advises it is time to move on.

I just hope they add a guy that knows something about Special Teams.

The best recruiter ever was Vinny Cerato under Holtz. The guy was a genius at it.
