2015 Predictions

One week to go before we open with Texas and there are a lot of questions about this team. Each preceding year we have been told how dominant our OL will be and they don’t come true. This OL should dominate, but I believe Brian Kelly is too predictable and in fact tips off the defense with player packages. Kelly constantly reminds everyone that he has been coaching 25 years but can barely get a play call in on time.

Now instead of Kelly and Denbrock we have Kelly, Denbrock and Sanford. I for one would not have a high energy guy like Sanford in the booth – he really should be on the field guiding the QB’s. Why bother with no huddle when it takes so long to get a play called giving the defense time to adjust. Most good coaches have 2 plays ahead and just go. Now we have a committee trying to suggest a play at a time.

For VanGorder’s defense to work he’s got to have good DL play that can actually get pressure on the QB’s, but right now we are already down one and with 2 triple option teams with cut blocks look for more injuries. If we have to play Navy make that Game One each year before they can develop a rhythm. The ND Safety’s have to show me they can actually play.

I’m going to predict we go 9-3 or 8-4 with a sure loss to USC.

Let’s run the schedule down:

  • Texas – not sure if Strong is the guy for Texas. They will play lights out for 1 1/2 quarters and then we should roll them.
  • Virginia – we win by 20.
  • Georgia Tech – Lose – they are Navy with better players and super fast.
  • U Mass – joke.
  • Clemson – close, but we win and finally slow down an uptempo team.
  • Navy – we trounce them and go cut block for cut block.
  • USC – Lose – great timing!!!! If Kessler plays we lose. Sark could have hung 100 pts on us in 2014. I think Hayden told him to ease up.
  • Temple – we roll them.
  • Pitt – Lose – always tough and now with former MSU DC Pat Narducci as their HC they pull the upset.
  • Wake Forest – back on track as we cruise.
  • Boston College – they have a big running game and a good tough coach in Steve Addazio. They beat USC in 2014 37-31 and only lost to Clemson 17-13. This is possibly our 4th loss.
  • Stanford – the glow is off this team. Harbaugh’s players are now all gone and I think the slide is beginning to set in.

WE get a lower tier Bowl and win ending with 9 to 10 wins.
